Instructions

In order to provide the best care and avoid any last-minute cancellations, we require a medical history questionnaire to be completed. This is available online for your convenience and must be completed at least 24 to 48 hours prior to your scheduled surgical date.

  • If a section does not apply, please select the check box for “No Issues”
  • Be sure to include your complete medical history including current conditions, prescription and over-the-counter medications (past and present), past medical conditions/surgeries

Upon receipt, someone from our team will call you regarding your appointment.

Pre-operative checklist
  • Attend all recommended/required medical appointments, including any pre-operative testing, if necessary
  • Fill prescriptions from your surgeon
  • Confirm your ride home from the surgery center. You must have a responsible adult to take you home and care for you 24 hours after your surgery. We do not permit patients to go home via public transportation (bus, Uber, Lyft, etc). If you do not have a ride and caretaker, your surgery will be canceled.
Day before your procedure

Prior to your procedure, a pre-assessment nurse from Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen will attempt to call you at the number you provided to your physician’s office. This phone call is very important and is made in an effort to speak with you and review any information you completed online (One Medical Passport). You will also receive a call the day before your procedure to provide you with your check-in time.

  • Nothing to eat after midnight. (No food, gum, cough drops, smoking, etc.)
    • You may drink clear fluids (water, apple juice, black coffee tea, Sprite) up to 2 hours before your procedure time.
    • If you fail to follow this instruction it is likely that your procedure will be canceled.
  • Cell phones are not permitted in patient care areas. Please leave your phone at home or with your driver.
  • Wear loose-fitting comfortable clothing.
  • Dentures and hearing aids may be worn to Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen. You will be required to remove them prior to your procedure.
  • Females will need to give a urine sample upon admission to the pre-op area.
  • Medications – all patients taking prescription or over-the-counter medications should complete the Medication section on One Medical Passport. If you did not do so, please bring a list of your medications (with strength and dose) or bring your medication bottle(s).
  • Children are not allowed to visit the Pre-op and Recovery areas.
  • No more than two adult visitors are allowed in the Pre-op and Recovery Room.
  • You must have a legal identification card and insurance card to complete the registration process prior to surgery. If you do not have an identification card with your current address you are required to provide us with a utility bill showing your correct address.
  • Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen’s business office will call you before your procedure to verify insurance. If you do not receive a call from the business office by noon the day before your procedure, please call the center between the hours of 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm to verify insurance.
  • Some medications may be taken the morning of your procedure. Please contact your physician if you have questions about these medications.
Day of your procedure
  • Stop drinking clear liquids 2 hours before your procedure time.
  • Report to Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen approximately 1½ hours prior to your scheduled procedure time (our pre-operative nurse will confirm the time the day before your procedure).
  • Arrive promptly at the time instructed during your pre-op phone call. This will allow adequate time for all necessary admission procedures.
  • Please bring your insurance ID cards and photo ID. If special financial arrangements are necessary, please call Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen prior to admission.
  • Leave jewelry and all valuables at home.
  • Upon arrival, you will change into a medical gown and slippers, which we provide. You will be asked to remove contact lenses, dentures, and any prosthesis. No cell phones are permitted in the patient care areas.
  • Be sure to bring any paperwork your doctor gave you such as test results or your medical history and a list of medications.
Day after your procedure
  • It is perfectly normal to feel gas or bloating after your procedure. You may also experience some drowsiness or dizziness depending on the kind of anesthesia you received.
  • For the first 24 hours following your procedure, do not engage in strenuous activities, do not drink alcoholic beverages, drive, or make any important decisions.
  • You will be asked to complete a questionnaire about the care you received. Your comments will enable us to continue to improve our services.

Anticipating surgery or outpatient procedures can be stressful and part of the anxiety can arise from not fully understanding associated out-of-pocket expenses. At Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen, we believe it is important to make patients aware of their potential financial expenses prior to their procedure.

One of our insurance verification specialists will contact you if there is an anticipated out-of-pocket expense associated with your planned procedure. Please realize charges for your procedure at Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen are separate from your surgeon’s charge as well as any anesthesiologist* and/or pathologist charges which may be incurred.

If your procedure is not covered by insurance, full payment is required at the time of service unless other arrangements are made in advance.

Patients – or their legal guardians – are ultimately responsible for payment of facility services at Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen. As a courtesy, Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen will bill your primary and secondary insurance carriers for you. Please bring your insurance cards with you on the day of surgery. We are required to collect all co-payments from our patients and we will call you to discuss any patient responsibility related to your co-payments. Such co-payments may include deductibles, co-insurance, or any non-covered items identified by your insurance plan.

Physicians Endoscopy Center at One Nineteen accepts cash, checks, any major credit card, a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or a Health Savings Account (HSA) as a financing option. Please contact our business office at 205-855-6185 Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM with questions regarding your billing or insurance information. We will be happy to assist you.
